Have you recently completed your hunter education or are thinking about taking it someday? Maybe you’re interested in recreational target shooting. Or maybe you’re simply looking for more information on the various types of firearms, action types, and what they are best used for. This workshop will fully prepare you with a focus on safe gun handling, ways to “field carry” during hunting activities, and how to shoot confidently. Topics include: choosing the right firearm for hunting various game birds or animals, caliber/ gauge choices, choosing features that make sense, as well as safe storage of firearms and ammunition, and shooting accurately.
This workshop will be hands on with our time balanced between practical exercises and live-fire range time and open to anyone 12 and up. You will soon be prepared for the upcoming season whether it’s hunting or a day at the range. This is great for the new hunter or shooter, and a great refresher for experienced folks.
All firearms (.22 rifles), ammunition, and materials are provided by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife
