Support the Friends of Tamarac and learn about the treasures that Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge has to offer both people and wildlife. Rhythms of Refuge is a seasonal journey through Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. In this film, photographer Chris Walker takes you into the most intimate spaces of the refuge one season at a time. Photographer Jared Eischen gives you looks at the habitat from a new perspective. Find your bliss in this cinematic experience into the wilds of one of most diverse ecosystems of northern Minnesota. From the awe-inspiring colors of fall to the crisp cold lakes and the symphony of spring, you’ll be surprised by the seasonal rhythm that nature provides for wildlife and people. Invite a friend to share in this connection to nature through the arts. This free event is sponsored by the Friends of Tamarac. Browse the photography display, raffle, and refuge information. Screenings will be held at 7:15 PM and 8:30 PM. Movie length approximately 30 min. Join us for a social before the event 5:00-8:00 PM at Teddy's Tavern - A Theodore Roosevelt Inspired Experience for Dining and Drinks (212 Broadway). Teddy's is just a short one block walk south of the theater on Broadway. Friends of Tamarac and refuge staff will be on hand to greet you and share more information about the refuge. There will be door prizes at Teddy's. Don't miss your show time. President Theodore Roosevelt established the first refuge unit in 1903 to protect birds from market hunting on a small island in Florida. The System has since grown to encompass more than 150 million acres of habitat essential for the survival of America's astounding diversity of wildlife. Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge is 43,000 acres where tall grass prairie, deciduous forest and conifer forest coverage. This event is a celebration of National Wildlife Refuge Week October 8-16 where each year we celebrate the great network of lands and waters that conserves and protects Americans’ precious wildlife heritage. Rediscover your nature and plan a visit to Tamarac Refuge (35704 County Hwy 26, Rochert, MN 56578) to watch for wildlife along the Blackbird Wildlife Drive or stop by the Visitor Center (Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00 year round, Sat & Sun 10:00 -5:00 pm through Oct. 20) During National Wildlife Refuge Week - October 8-16 - take a walk on the wild side. Three trails will be signed, self-guided, interpretive walk through the wilds of the refuge. The wildlife drive is also open until December 15.
