The National Upholstery Furniture Frame workshop started in 2006 and is an annual meeting place for upholstery frame designers and manufacturers. Vendors of materials also attend and everyone contributes to the discussion of what is the cutting edge of design and manufacturing of upholstery frames.
We have top industry professionals lead discussions of topics that include materials = lumber, plywood and OSB-use of these materials and current market conditions. We discuss current cutting edge technologies of CNC machining and tooling. 3-D modeling is covered as well as nesting latest technologies.
Reports are given on local NC upholstery training programs in the NC Community College system.
As a group we discuss each topic with the attendees asking questions and providing insightful comments on the many angles of designing and manufacturing frames.
Vendors are encouraged to set up information tables and offer literature and samples.
The City of Conover is a sponsor of this workshop by providing the meeting room at the Conover Station facility free of charge. Vendors pick up the food expenses. Thus we don't charge attendees to come.
Harry Watt of NCSU Wood Products Extension is our host and can be contacted at [email protected] and cell phone 704-880-3067.
The Conover Station Building is on the west side of downtown Conover near the railroad tracks and next to a city park.
We open the doors at 8 am for check in, coffee and donuts. We start at 9 am and end at 4 p m.
