The Iredell County Health Department is collaborating with Partners and the Iredell Health System to provide a QPR training, also known as gatekeeper training. This training will teach people to recognize the signs that someone may be considering suicide, establish a dialogue, and guide the person to seek professional help.

How to question, persuade and refer someone who may be suicidalHow to get help for someone in crisisCommon causes of suicidal behaviorWarning signs of suicideFree of charge, this QPR training is being provided to youth instructors and leaders to lower suicide risk among children and teenagers in the community.
Meet the trainer:
Amber Matthews, MSW
Amber Matthews is one of the Community Training Coordinators at Partners. She is a graduate of Appalachian State University and earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from East Tennessee University. She has spent most of her career in direct care of children in foster care. Amber has been doing training presentations for the past nine years.
