Three workshops and one writers panel with valuable information about writing and marketing for both the fiction and nonfiction markets. Lunch is included in your fee.
Annette Whipple workshop: Ready to start your next nonfiction project or fascinate your fiction readers with insight from your research? Want to go beyond the basics and dive deep into your topic? Find resources and experts, evaluate sources, and organize your research as you prepare to write. Annette Whipple shares from her experience of researching dozens of informational projects as well as the expertise of other nonfiction authors.
Lisa Betz workshop: Each of the nine Enneagram types has a single core issue that influences how they think and act. Writers can use these nine core issues to craft complex, believable, consistent characters. This talk gives a brief overview of the nine types followed by interactive examples to illustrate how to apply these core character issues in a variety of applications from building character arcs to creating villains.
Joanne Brokaw workshop: Writer's block. It's every writers worst nightmare. What if you could confront the blank page head on and have fun at the same time? You can, by applying the principles of improvisational theater to your writing process—without ever getting on a stage! In this session, we'll practice saying "Yes" to bad ideas; use our bodies to get out of our heads; and discover tools to generate ideas and recharge the creative spirit. And we'll do it all in a safe, supportive environment.
