Hurricane Ian ravaged the Southwest coast of Florida on Wednesday September 28. For hours, the eye wall winds tore through communities and sent surge higher than 10 feet into homes and businesses. People who stayed witnessed Ian decimate their livelihood. Many who evacuated came home to shambles.
Though Southwest Florida is over a thousand miles away, many Minnesotans consider it a "home away from home." Many visit its sugar sand beaches and warm waters every year. Some even moved there permanently. To see the damage is incomprehensible. So many people have lost everything and are hurting. It's far, yet so close to our hearts.
Let's bond together and let humanity shine bright. Let's show them the very best of "Minnesota nice."
