A new position has just POPPED up with Poppin’ & Mixin’! We are Metro Detroit’s premier Popcorn/Kettle Corn company offering up cool + unique recipes you can’t find anywhere else! We are looking for an individual who is friendly, passionate, and highly motivated for our Popcorn Food truck located inside the Detroit Zoo for the following dates: Oct 8-9 (training), Oct 15-16, Oct 21-23, Nov 19-20, Nov 25-27, Dec 2-4, Dec 7-11, Dec 14-23. Must be available for all dates, and a bonus is offered if all dates are worked. This role is the heart of our operation where you will be running and cooking all popcorn out of our kettle. We want someone who is dedicated to learning a challenging process whom we can rely on. We are doing phone/facetime interviews until Thursday 10/6 and must be available to begin training Saturday 10/8 (1-7pm) and Sunday 10/9 (1-7pm). This role is a temp role but can be permanent as we also operate at various events around Metro Detroit throughout the year. Daily duties include: Prepping, preparing, cooking, bagging/sealing, labeling, and stocking all flavors of: Popcorn/kettle corn using our popcorn poppers, tumblers, sifting tables, and recipes Opening shift duties Stock products and inventory Ensure all equipment/utensils are clean and sanitized Closing shift duties Thorough cleaning/sanitizing of all work surfaces and equipment/utensils/supplies Stock products and inventory Sweep/mop and empty trash Running shift duties Keeping workspace clean and sanitized Keeping product stocked Create and apply product labels to bags and packages Quality Assurance to ensure all products are in perfect form before selling to customers Candidate must: Be located in the Metro Detroit Area and available to work in person in Royal Oak, MI Be available to work flexible hours through the holidays Be open-minded to working in our food truck during select events throughout the year Be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, and have your own reliable form of transportation Have a valid bank account for direct deposit Be able to stand for long periods of time Have clean and presentable hygiene and clothing Have a commitment to superior customer service Work well with others Catch on quickly and lead by example Follow rules and procedures Have excellent problem-solving skills and know-how to handle irate customers Have excellent communication skills Be organized and be able to juggle many different tasks at once Have great attention to detail Be able to take initiative and not constantly be told what to do Be able to lift boxes weighing 40-50# Experience sought, but not required (training provided): Restaurant Cook experience Knowledge of food safety and allergens Other previous restaurant and/or food/bev experience Pay is $12.00/hour plus daily cash tips! Pay is bi-weekly on Fridays. Must have a valid bank account, we only offer direct deposit. All employees are on a 90-day probation period. Training hours pay: ages 16-19 ($6.50/hr); ages 20 and older (minimum wage). You receive 1 free food item from our shop for every shift you work.
