We are seeking a dedicated part time Kennel Assistant to help us continue to grow and achieve our goals of providing quality medical care to our patients and outstanding service to our clients. Successful candidates must possess excellent customer service and client education skills, good critical thinking and problem solving skills, and a positive attitude. As a kennel assistant, your job entails extremely important aspects of our hospital operation: animal care and treatment and hospital cleanliness. You are an integral part of the behind the scenes team that keeps the facility running smoothly and looking and smelling fantastic. Duties include, but are not limited to: -Animal Care and Treatment Surgery: -Cleaning of surgical monitoring equipment. -Thoroughly clean the surgery suite after procedures. -Cleaning and care of surgical instruments including packing, wrapping, and autoclaving. Treatment/Patient Interaction: -Ensure patients have clean, dry bedding, litter boxes, and kennels. -Provide water for patients (unless instructed otherwise). -Walk patients, when appropriate, utilizing proper leash technique (double slip lead) and any special considerations (towel sling, bandage cover, etc.) required for the individual patient. -Knowledge of contagious disease and isolation protocol. Hospital Cleanliness Responsibilities: Indoors: -Vacuum rugs and mop floors as needed. -Empty garbage in all areas of the building. -Dusting. -Complete daily, weekly, monthly task lists. -Cleaning and maintaining all sinks. -Laundry (wash, dry, fold, and put away). -Clean kennels and patient floor areas. -Clean windows and doors. -Clean surgery tables and trays. -Replenish cleaning supplies (including paper towels, garbage bags, toilet paper). -Knowledge of patient isolation protocols. -Overall maintenance of the sights, smells and sounds of the hospital. -Close all windows at the end of day (Spring/Summer/Fall). Other tasks as assigned.
