ECA is hiring a field construction superintendent willing to travel for long periods of time. Experience in geosynthetics or plastic lining a plus, but not necessary. Must be bilingual Spanish speaking, have proven leadership skills to lead a crew, have excel and Microsoft office skills and be organized. Responsible for managing the entire administrative and field construction process of a project from initial planning through final acceptance by client to assure the project comes in safely, on schedule and on budget. Plan, organize and execute projects successfully. • Use ECA’s Pre-Construction Planning Process consistently to bring quality work in ahead of schedule • Familiarize yourself with all aspects of project prior to project mobilization • Understand the company’s scope of work and quantify any discrepancies • Plan specific daily work activities well in advance • Plan the demobilization of a project as much as the mobilization • Review and understand Specifications, Plans, Estimate and Strategy, and any other applicable reports or project information • Review project design by checking for conflicts, deviations from Company’s standards, and other general construction issues and offering recommendations when applicable • Work with Estimating/Sales/Project Management in procuring project documents, plans etc. through formal handover meeting • Work with PM’s and Estimating/Sales Departments to finalize the budget and project goals • Coordinate crew assignments with PM and HR • Coordinate equipment, material and consumables with the Construction Services Manager • Ensure that all necessary materials have been delivered to the jobsite or loaded into construction trailer • Coordinate and monitor material deliveries • Create a comprehensive inventory of received materials and verify that all materials ordered have been delivered to the jobsite • Ensure punch list is performed and all closeout procedures are completed • Send all QC and project paper work to project manager within 24 hours after project has been completed • Develop a comprehensive production schedule and production reporting from site work to final acceptance • Prepare, submit to office and continuously update a two week look ahead plan • Update the schedule on a weekly basis • Attend final close-out meeting and secure project sign-off on ECA Completion Report 2. Effective communication with all parties. • Coordinate crew assignments with PM and HR • Coordinate equipment, material and consumables with the Construction Services Manager • Communicate productivity goals to the field technicians who will execute the work • With respect to design revisions, communicate changes immediately to the office and crew • Prepare and email daily Production Reports • Inform PM of any foreseen project conflicts. • Report quality problems (including all DS failures) to the PM within 24 hours of occurrence with written reports and including corrective actions • Provide feedback to Estimating and Project Manager on cost variance specifics for trend analysis and corrective actions • Communicate the updated schedule with the customer / third party engineer on a daily / weekly basis 3. Enforce protocols and standards in all areas (safety, specifications, paperwork, etc.). • Take ultimate responsibility for always enforcing safe working conditions • Monitor site safety • Implement, exercise, and enforce safety rules • Report accidents immediately per protocol • Document safety meetings and send to the office weekly • Contribute to safety guidelines and procedures • Accidents and emergency management • Establish and ensure compliance with all quality control standards and procedures • Facilitate compliance with all construction documents and Company standards • Email or send all paperwork weekly: expenses reports, time sheets and equipment inventory • Review, compile and save all paper work throughout the project and turn in a complete package at the end of the project • Superintendent must report daily to the PM/Office while assigned to a project • Superintendent must report daily to the office while not assigned to a project • E-mail daily reports at the end of each day • Check and reply to e mails, text and phone calls daily • Notify the PM about vacation or time-off plans no less than 4 weeks ahead of time for construction planning and forecasting needs • Report any company policy violations as soon as becoming aware of them • Prevent unauthorized use of vehicles and equipment • Care for all company property and equipment (including rentals) • Have a well-organized training method for developing new hires into qualified technicians 4. Deliver projects on budget and on time. • Use ECA’s Pre-Construction Planning Process consistently to bring quality work in ahead of schedule • Work with PM/Estimating/Sales to finalize the budget and project goals • Continually monitor anticipated time / cost to complete • Review all design revisions for added cost and impact to ongoing work in the field • Manage on-site project expenses: materials, fuel, labor, overtime, hours paid, supplies and tools 5. Internal and external customer satisfaction. • Communicate the updated schedule with the customer / third party engineer on a daily / weekly basis • Maintain good client relationships • Attend final close-out meeting and secure project sign-off on ECA Completion Report • Resolve problems, disputes, and open issues on a timely basis • Attend project meetings, site meetings, and inspections as required • Always represent ECA in a professional manner • Motivate work force by communicating goals, setting expectations and providing constructive feedback • Hold employees accountable for acceptable performance while offering praise and recognition when appropriate • Treat employees with respect and avoid favoritism • Avoid detrimental/negative comments towards any employee of the company including field and office • Support the company’s decisions through your words and actions • Set an example by demonstrating strong leadership and management with employees, customers and supervisors • Respond to any employee questions or concerns timely and professionally • Spend 80-90% of work day in the working area directly supervising the work and employees • Never leave the site while the crew is still working unless it is unavoidable Responsibilities while not assigned to a project: • Report to the office daily • Help coordinating or executing different tasks such as special fabrication or projects • Work with the office personnel to finalize paper work associated with completed projects. • Spend time learning new skills • Work with estimating and project management reviewing completed and upcoming projects • Develop new ways to improve field operations • Perform other duties as requested by the President/VP, PM, or Senior Management.
