Hello, Are there any rescues or EXPERIENCED animal people out there who know where to send an aggressive hamster? Against my better judgment, I bought a hamster for my 10 yr old step daughter this summer. She had been asking for one for the past two years and I was VERY clear about the socializing and care instructions for hamsters prior to getting it for her- which of course neither are now being met. I have been keeping up with his cage and care, but the poor guy is so under socialized he bites and is aggressive with me every time I try to handle or pet him. I have a 3 and 4 year old who love to look at “the mouse” but I don’t want them getting bit either. The little guy is definitely not living his best life and if I didn’t have have two littles (and a full time job) I wouldn’t mind doing what is needed to help him be friendly once more- I just don’t have the time. I make sure he has clean food, water and cage, and I can occasionally get him into his exercise ball without getting bit- but he really needs someone who can spend more time with him and it breaks my heart to see how skittish he’s becoming. I spent over 200 between the hamster itself, cage, toys, accessories, food, bedding, etc. I’m not looking to get even a fraction of that back- I just want him to go somewhere where he can live out the next year or two happy.
