Description
I have a vintage Wedgewood, circa 1940s or 50s is my guess based on the look of it. I installed it last year and set it up for propane. It's a combination wood/gas stove. Propane on the right, wood on the left—hence the stovepipe in the photo. The range works great, but the oven is giving me trouble. The gas pools around the orifice and doesn't push into the burner. I've turned off the gas to the oven and the oven pilot, since it's not working, and only use the range. My propane guy refuses to touch it; the fella on a vintage stove website who helped me do the propane setup said that's often the case. He's been working on vintage and new stoves for 60 years and says lots of guys are afraid of the old ones because they look different on the outside. But when you open them up, most (like mine) are set up pretty much the same way any newer one is. He told me it's likely that the line to the stove needs to be cleaned or replaced, as it's not shooting the propane from the orifice at a high enough rate to get the gas into the burner.
Unfortunately, he lives on the other side of the country, so I'm looking to find someone around here who knows a thing or two about gas and LP stoves to come take a look at mine and hopefully get it working. Willing to pay a fair price. Thanks.
