Have you ever wondered who is responsible for planting and taking care of trees in DC? Have you ever wondered about the connection between trees and community health? Are you curious about outdoor events you can attend this fall? Then stop by our Meet in Your Park events and chat with Casey Trees, an organization working to restore, enhance, and protect the urban tree canopy of Washington, DC. Here at Casey Trees, we plant trees for free throughout the District, care for trees, teach people how to advocate for trees, and lead educational events. Come learn how individuals like you can make a positive difference in your community and keep your neighborhood green. Want to stay involved? Also be sure to check our newsletter, The Leaflet, to learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities and community events. Where To Meet: We will be meeting by the James E . Bunn Amphitheater in Oxon Run Park. Getting There Parking: Limited free street parking nearby. Public Transportation: The closest metrobus stop is the Mississippi Ave & #1200, served by buses W2 and W3. The closest Metro stop is Congress Heights (Green). Bike Parking: Bikes can be locked to nearby signs. Requirements Register: Register in advance. If your plans change prior to the event, please update your registration status so we are sure to have the necessary number of volunteers. Waiver: All volunteers must pre-register and sign a completed volunteer waiver form BEFORE participating in the event. Clothes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. We recommend long pants and other protections for sun, bugs and poison ivy. Water: Bring a full water bottle! Water will be available on site if needed. Food: No food will be provided on site, please pack in any food you would like to eat during the event. COVID-19 Policy: Casey Trees is now requiring all attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend our events. One of the following options will demonstrate proof of vaccination: - A physical Center for Disease Control (CDC) Vaccination Card - A digital copy/photo of a CDC Vaccination Card - A COVID-19 Verification App such as VaxYes or CLEAR Please bring a photo ID and one of the above listed options to provide proof of vaccination. You may not be asked to show proof of vaccination during our outdoor event, however you may need to show proof of vaccination to use any indoor facilities.
