Over the last decade, the annual holiday market has evolved from a small garden Christkindlmarkt to a block-wide celebration, and is a key incubator for Washington, DC’s makers and craftspeople. From December 2-4, 2022, stroll through our festive German-style craft market from the Heurich House Museum’s garden up New Hampshire Avenue NW towards Dupont Circle with a Glühwein in hand and find the perfect holiday gifts for your loved ones. The Markt will feature 50+ local small-scale makers, a mini exhibit about our historic revival of the Chr. Heurich Brewing Co.’s Senate Beer, children’s ornament making, and more! Your visit to the Christmas Markt not only supports DC’s local craftspeople directly, but also helps the museum provide services to them all year long.In 2021, the markt featured its most diverse group of vendors - 46% self-identified as being part of an underrepresented community - and featured its largest number of new vendors, including 37% of vendors in their first 5 years of business, which is the riskiest time for a small business.
