Calling all Chicago photographers! Looking to elevate your cityscape photography? Skydeck Chicago is partnering with local legend Mike Meyers for a master class 1,353 ft in the air. Join us from 6-8PM on Wednesday, October 5th for a two-hour event on Skydeck’s 99th floor, as we explore three magic shooting hours: golden hour, sunset and blue hour. Whether you’re a veteran or beginner photographer, Mike will share tips and tricks to mastering light and capturing the beauty of the Chicago skyline.
Some tips we’ll cover in the class include:
Proper exposure and camera settings for golden hour, sunset and blue hour
Which lenses to shoot with and why
How to best use light and shadows to your advantage for golden hour
Shooting wide and tight perspectives of the Chicago skyline
Capturing light trails of traffic
How to shoot a day to night time lapse
What to bring:
Photo ID
Camera, lens/lenses
Tripod (if you have one, but it’s not mandatory)
Event timeline:
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. (ticketholders should enter via S. Franklin Street, which is adjacent to the Foxtrot Market)
All guests must be checked in by 5:45 p.m.
Class will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Mike Meyers is a Chicago-based professional photographer specializing in cityscapes, landscapes, drone, street and time-lapse photography. After a 20-year career as a copywriter and creative director in the advertising industry, Mike found photography and hasn't put down the camera since. He now works with brands to create engaging campaigns, imagery and video shot through his eyes. A native of the suburbs and a Chicago resident for over 20 years, Michael holds a special place in his heart for the city and its people.
