Darien Garden Club will continue our Oaktober celebration into November when we welcome Brandon Hayes, Founder and Principal from Bold Bison Communications and Consulting, to speak to us about the Oak Ecosystem Recovery Plan.
A little background about the Oak Ecosystem Recovery Plan:
Oaks are a keystone species critical to our local ecosystems, but the Chicago region’s oak trees have suffered massive declines both in savanna ecosystems and on residential streets and yards. The Oak Ecosystem Recovery Plan is a region-wide effort by government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and volunteers to conserve oaks, protect them from growing pressures, and restore their ecosystems.
Brandon Hayes, coordinator of the Plan’s working group, will join us for an informal presentation about the plan and how homeowners and community members can get involved.
The presentation will be followed by our November General Meeting. The presentation and meeting will be in a hybrid format
Schedule for the evening:
6:30 - Social time
7:00 - Brandon Hayes' presentation
8:00 - DGC November General Meeting
All are welcome, Darien Residency is NOT required.
Brandon Hayes founded Bold Bison Communications and Consulting in
2019 to enhance capacity in the conservation sector. Before Bold Bison, he was
Director of Communications at Openlands, where he directed all aspects of external
communications. He also served as Manager of Communications and Development
at Marwen, which provides high-quality fine art training to underserved Chicago
youth, and as a publicist for Goodman Theatre in Chicago.
