Description

In a world of limited resources, many invasive species are already too far out of control to fight. It is often more practical to focus on managing invasives where they have the most impact, and typically this means sites with rare native species and natural communities or important ecological services like soil conservation or flood and fire reduction. But perhaps invasives’ biggest effect is to alter the sense of place inherent in the very relationship between people and the places they live, literally changing our minds. Join David Gregg for the fourth lecture in our Fireside Chat Series as he explores how this can happen with examples from around Rhode Island, including the Norman Bird Sanctuary. Enjoy drinks and light snacks by the fireside while thinking about your own senses of place.
