This years Reimagining Faith and Public Life Event, “Discerning Truth in an Untruthful World” welcomes Bonnie Kristian and Jeffrey Bilbro. Each of the published authors will be discussing topics that can aid in our truth discerning habits. Kristian, focusing on language and its ability to be an instrument of power. Understanding how public speech has power, and too many of us aren't equipped as speakers or listeners. But responsible and humane use of language is a skill we all can learn. Bilbro, focusing on Metaphors and how they matter. Exploring what metaphors we might rely on, often implicitly, to make sense of our media landscape. Being able to find better metaphors can change the way we go about the task of discerning truth.
