Failed smog test - Need to fix dashboard light

Hello. I recently went to get a smog check for my 1997 Toyota Corolla. It failed the test because the engine light is supposed to come on when you turn the ignition on - then go off. All the other lights come on except the engine one. I'm hoping it's a simple bulb issue and not something deeper. Anyway I was hoping there was someone out there that knows their stuff when it comes to old Japanese cars and dashboard light. Please email me if you can help and let me know your rates.
