The Potter League for Animals is seeking a full-time Customer Care Associate/Animal Care Associate. This position is key to our success and provides assistance to customers visiting the Potter League including completing adoption counseling, receiving stray/owned animals, answering incoming phone calls, and providing information about the League’s programs and services. Maintains a safe and sanitary facility for animals and people and provides humane handling and care for all shelter animals. Assures all animals’ nutrition, housing, and basic medical needs are met on a daily basis. Provides quality animal and people care in accordance with the League’s mission, goals and management philosophy. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, requiring a flexible schedule, including weekends. Responsibilities include: • Prepares animals and their paperwork for adoption, surrender, or pickup. • Counsels and screens potential pet adopters and explains organization policies and procedures. Is familiar with and can articulate the special qualities of all animals. • Maintains lost and found records and diligently works to match missing animals. • Provides accurate information and friendly service on a wide variety of topics. Provides quality customer service and ensures calls are answered promptly, voice mail and email are checked regularly and messages are returned appropriately or forwarded in a timely manner. • Responds to the public in person, over the phone, and via email. • Provides service and guidance as needed to resolve customer concerns. • Responsible for accurate money transactions, retail sales, crate rentals, and some donations. • Performs a wide variety of computer entry and clerical duties relating to the front desk activity. Maintains a variety of office files and prepares reports. • Ensures all opening and closing duties are completed in a thorough manner including but not limited to: cleaning of public areas; accurate reconciliation of financial reports, money handling, and deposits; availability of needed supplies and inventory; accurate data entry. • Responsible for care of shelter animals to include cleaning, feeding, bathing, grooming, and handling. Follows disease control protocols to ensure a safe, healthy environment. • Observes and evaluates animals for signs of illness and reports symptoms to appropriate personnel. Assists with veterinary care as directed. Assists with transportation of shelter animals to/from veterinary hospitals. • Observes, assesses, monitors, and reports animal behavior. • Maintains accurate record keeping and data input into animal management software. • Performs miscellaneous activities including, but not limited to general maintenance, cleaning vehicles and equipment, inventory and restocking supplies, and errands. • Follows all safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment • Demonstrates initiative and a flexible work schedule while working enthusiastically and cooperatively with all departments. • Adheres to all Code of Conduct Standards. • Other duties as requested.
