I came to Richland, Wa 5 1/2 weeks ago to earn money during the harvest season. With the intention of saving every dime I possibly could and then return to S.E. Oregon by today to accept a job offer I had extended to me by the BLM in Hines Oregon. All was going according to plan up until five days ago when an individual wearing a hoodie and a face mask made there way in and out of my room I was renting while I was away at the mall for 38 minutes. This individual in that short amount of time made off with every penny I came here and made. Some days as long as 16 hours and 7 days a week I worked. All for nothing. He took all the cash, my clothes, new laptop and external hard drive, Beats audio head phones, medicine and more. Now without resources I am stuck here in Tri-Cities / Richland with no way to return to SE Oregon. My room rent is due and my car is without fuel, I have not eaten in two days and am in need of my medicine. I have no family to call and have no friends I am close enough to too ask for help. I am a very independent and self supporting person. I spent many years in the military and had to overcome some very demanding and disturbing situations. I lead by demonstrating strength and resolve and set the standards that allowed me to successfully lead my soldiers out of situations with varying degrees of unknowns and danger. But now here I am on the soil of the country I fought for and I am left feeling helpless, beaten and know not where to turn. I just want to say to the thieves out there. The next time you decide to steal from someone, stop for a minute and think to your self what your actions may cause, who you may be stealing from and what you may leave them faced with. Your actions have consequences for the victims you leave in your wake. And one more thing to think about, and this goes along with me saying you need to think about whom you may be considering stealing from. If I had caught you in the act, that would not have ended well for you. I guarantee you that. You would have been the one that found yourself in a very vulnerable state with no where to turn, not me.
