Description
We are looking for a Shop Manager who can support our fast-paced operation. The Shop Manager position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations resources including labor, equipment, and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work - within budget - while ensuring adherence to safety guidelines and quality standards. Field Supervision: • Equipment inventory – Everything on the trucks, including mowers, blowers, weed eaters, edgers, etc. • Monitors and performs advanced maintenance of equipment, to ensure optimal productivity and proper maintenance by respective field staff • Vast mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment knowledge: lawn and push mowers, leaf blowers, blade edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, and other lawn equipment (i.e., filters, cabling, spark plugs etc.) • Basic truck maintenance/repair knowledge: oil changes, spark plugs, • Basic fundamentals of large equipment such as skid steers, brush cutters, excavators, and augers • Implement repair procedures, safety and function inspections, and inventory systems • Maintains a high level of housekeeping and care of company assets in the vehicles and shop • Ensures all materials, equipment, and other supplies are ordered and/or on hand for crews’ daily assignments, and works with the Maintenance Managers to confirm need, access and availability of materials and equipment • Work with Project Managers/Account Managers to follow up on damage repairs of company property, vehicles, equipment, and machinery while monitoring cost and efficiency • Develop solid relationships with all our vendors and subcontractors and negotiate all the pricing for equipment, rates, and bulk materials • Continually assess operational procedures and make recommendations to enhance value, improve efficiency, or control costs • Provides new-hire training regarding the tools used by the company, as well as provides continued training and development of established personnel • Special projects as needed Qualifications: • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards • Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish is preferred • Strong computer skills and the ability to adapt to new software programs • Must be able to move and/or lift - up to 60 pounds consistently Physical requirements of the job: • Bending or twisting the body. • Keeping or regaining balance. • Kneeling, crouching, and squatting. • Pushing or pulling objects. • Bending and stooping. • Climbing ladders and stairs. • Move or lift objects/plants up to 75 pounds. Environmental Elements of the job: • Work outdoors in extreme heat or cold. • Sounds or noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable. • Use herbicides, fertilizers, pesticides, and related products. • Exposed to hazardous equipment.
