We'll learn the basics of casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, binding off and the basics of reading a knitting pattern. When we're done, you'll have a cute rustic pumpkin!
Participant fee includes a pattern with directions for 3 sizes of pumpkins (we'll make one in class), a set of knitting needles, a darning needle, Virginia-farmed wool to practice and to make a total of 3 pumpkins, Virginia-farmed cotton roving for stuffing our pumpkins, and cinnamon sticks.
Participants may also purchase additional Virginia-farmed wool at a discount.
**Please register at least 10 days in advance to allow time for delivery of wool from the farm.

Karen Hoagland is the knitter behind Hoagland Handmade. She has been knitting for over 15 years, and specializes in using natural fibers in all her items - none of the plastic/acrylic you find in big box stores! She prioritizes supporting local farms, family-owned mills, and hand-dyers when sourcing natural, sustainable, and eco-friendly yarns. Her husband is in the Air Force and she's had the opportunity to discover local fiber farms, mills, and indie dyers all over the country. When she's not knitting, she and her husband enjoy traveling with their rescue pup and kitty.
