Background: Michael is a business-minded corporate attorney with experience working both in the law firm environment and as the leader of in-house legal teams for many years, where he has a rare perspective on how to successfully deliver legal services in both worlds. He is currently a member of Foley & Lardner’s Transactions Practices Group and Sports Industry Team, where he was a key member on executive management teams of sports businesses for 22 years. He is a leader in esports law and direction, where he and his firm have hosted legal esports leadership events for many years. As the senior legal executive first with the TD Garden and Boston Bruins and next with Performance Sports Group, Michael has significant experience in establishing legal departments, been a stabilizing force and problem-solver for executive colleagues operating in a highly dynamic corporate and business environment, and served as a trusted adviser and confidant to boards of directors. Michael's career has includes that of sports, as the chief legal officer for a prominent sports and entertainment facility and “Original Six” NHL franchise, and for an iconic sports equipment company, which has been complemented by substantive legal experience in the areas of consumer products law, public company governance and compliance, M&A and intellectual property/brand protection and enforcement.
