This is the first class of this type to be offered by the Tonantzin Society. Art journaling and exploring loss, grief, and remembrance. We are in the season of death, dying back and rebirth. The time of year where Dia de los Muertos is celebrated. Dia de los Muertos is a vital linkage in Mexican/Chicanx culture to help us stay connected to our ancestors and others in our lives that have crossed over to the next realm. At your own pace and rhythm of this four-hour class, you will use art to remember those no longer with us. This class is set for 4 hours and will include:
Teaching 2 different methods of art journalingTake time to experiment with the methodsPoetry reading and musicBreak and snack timeStart your own Dia de los Muertos Remembrance JournalAll supplies are provided. Feel free to bring small pictures, or special ephemera. Participants will create 3-4 pages of remembrance. Students can then take home their journals with blank pages available for future Dia de los Muertos art.
