Description

You are invited to a special night of shoebox processing designated especially for youth in the Operation Christmas Child Chicago Processing Center located in Aurora! After shoebox gifts are packed and collected, we rely on thousands of volunteers across the country to prepare these shoebox gifts to be delivered to children. By saying yes to this volunteer opportunity, you play an integral role in bringing the Gospel to millions of boys and girls all over the world! We will provide FREE dinner, followed by a night full of fun and meaningful service in Jesus' Name. Students must be 13 or older to volunteer and one chaperone is required for every four youth (ages 13-17). Spots are limited and walk-ins are not guaranteed, so register today! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - 1. What can I expect when I come to volunteer? Volunteers in the Processing Center form teams and perform all the tasks necessary to process the shoeboxes at one location. Teams are responsible for inspecting the gifts, sorting inappropriate items, working with filler items, separating boxes by age and gender, and boxing shoeboxes in designated cartons. Due to the fast-paced environment of the warehouse and changing needs, you may be asked to do different tasks during your shift. We appreciate your flexibility. 2. What should I wear at the processing center? Our Processing Centers are set up in warehouses, so please make proper provisions to be comfortably and appropriately dressed for this environment. It is best to be prepared with closed-toe shoes, appropriate for standing for long periods, and warm, layered, casual clothes as the temperature inside can vary. 3. How many people can I bring in my group? You can bring as many friends and family as you would like as long as everyone is over 13 years of age and groups have at least one adult chaperone for every four youth (ages 13-17). 4. Can I bring my own food? Dinner will be provided for FREE this night only. You are welcome to bring your own food to accommodate your preference or allergies. All food and drinks must remain inside the break area. This area in the Processing Center has space to store your meals and snacks. You may take breaks as needed during your time with us. Please be advised that tobacco products are prohibited on the property. Visit our Website to learn more about Operation Christmas Child a project of Samaritan's Purse
