Description

Houston White Cane Safety Day was started by three dedicated advocates in 2007 and with incredible event partnerships has grown into one of the largest and longest running White Cane Safety Day celebrations in the nation. Houston White Cane Safety Day began at University of Houston and will be returning to the campus this fall. This event starts with an awareness march that leads into an exciting program with mayoral proclamation, guest speakers, music guests, and door prizes. Resources from the community will be available to share information with attendees. Lunch will be provided to those who register for the event. 2022 Master of Ceremonies is Lauren Talarico of KHOU and the 2022 keynote speaker is Ron Lucey, Executive Director for the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities. Thanks to the incredible partners who have made this event possible: Texas Workforce Solutions - Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Workforce Solutions, University of Houston, Justin Dart Center, City of Houston Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, Impac Fleet, Lighthouse of Houston, NASA, Health and Human Services' Blind Children's Program, and Metro.
