The Workforce Opportunities for Returning Citizens Department of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Second Chance Careers Event! This event is open to the public and is set to impact the justice involved and formerly incarcerated community. The KC Chamber and it’s partners are offering returning citizens unique opportunities in careers in entrepreneurship. Come and hear from LA Celebrity Chef, Keith Corbin give success tips for returning citizens. He will read from his new book “California Soul : An American Epic of Cooking and Survival”. Chef Corbin has built a popular LA restaurant featured on Issa Rae’s “Insecure” multiple times. Chef Corbin’s California Soul food has attracted the likes of Jay Z, Diddy, Issa Rae, and others. The first 30 people will receive a book that Chef Corbin will sign for the following the event. Additional books will be available for purchase. The WORC department at the KC Chamber has nonprofit partners who directly serve the justice involved community. These nonprofit partners will have tables set up to provide information and resources to returning citizens seeking empowered careers and entrepreneurship.
