BREWING TRADITIONS WERE MADE TO BE BROKEN Like all breweries, we have a story, but our story is not about us, it’s about you. From our memories and experiences in some of Europe’s old-world pubs, town squares, and breweries, we recreated a space where family and friends come together for conversation, laughter and each other’s company while enjoying a great hand-crafted beer. In 2011, as Minnesota's only craft brewery focused on Belgian-style beers, Boom Island rolled out its first kegs. Our founder and head brewer worked alongside European brewmasters learning old-style brewing methods. Today, we continue to follow those traditions, brewing Belgian beers in that thousand-year-old timeless craft, while diversifying our beer selection to satisfy a wider variety of preferences. Boom Island expanded its brewery and taproom, relocating to Minnetonka in the summer of 2019. Here, we strived to create a comfortable, old-world environment. A classic patio reminiscent of street side cafes draws this experience outdoors; while indoors a stack of wine and bourbon barrels, used to age our limited release beers, separates you from the fermenters and brewhouse. In the taproom you are surrounded by natural light, 100-year-old reclaimed barnwood beams, and a 30-foot bar where staff are eager to share their extensive beer knowledge in this warm atmosphere.
