Description
For our next adventure, we’re combining two of our favorite activities: biking and sightseeing in one of the most breathtaking parts of Pennslyvania. We’d love to have you there! Join us on October 15 as we gather for a scenic bike ride through the Poconos! Packed with over 100 varietes of trees, shrubs, and plants the Pocono Mountains puts on one of the best leaf changing color spectacles in the country. We’re excited to continue our work of planting seeds of safety for the BIPOC community within the great outdoors while basking in nature’s glow. In an effort to accommodate as many skill-levels as possible, we’re offering this event as a “choose your own adventure ride.” Each participant will have the choice of joining us for a 10, 16, or 28-mile ride. We will be riding from Slatington to Jim Thorpe along a mostly-flat, crushed gravel and dirt portion of Delaware & Lehigh Canal Path. Pacing will range from 10 - 12 MPH. We ask that each participant use their best judgement and choose an appropraite distance for their skill level and physical ability. As the ride goes along, we will make time for leaf peeping, photo taking, and old fashioned breaks to catch up with new and old friends. Once we reach Jim Thorpe, we’ll head to Muggles Mug and/or Curiosities Coffees for drinks and snacks. Afros in Nature will cover the cost of snacks/beverages. Event leaders will not be responsible for the transportation of loaned bicycles. Additional bikes can be arranged via CAT (Coalition for Appropriate Transportation). Join CAT and build your own bike!We at Afros in Nature believe the outdoors should be safe and accessible.
