Description
Snowgrass Flats and Goat Lake Loop trail near Packwood Washington is 16 miles with an elevation gain of 3000 feet. We invite you on a journey of personal growth all while joining the fight against human trafficking! The goal for this endurance hike is to push personal limits, step out of our comfort zone and conquer one of the most breathtaking hikes in the Pacific Northwest. This hike will be a celebration of raising funds and awareness for the organization Rescue Freedom. If you would like to learn more visit them at www.rescuefreedom.org This 16 mile loop with an elevation gain of 3000 feet samples the best of the area - cool forests; bright wildflowers; and amazing views of all of three volcanoes in the South Cascades. We will start at Berry Patch trailhead 45 minutes from Packwood Washington and head up trail 96 to Goat Creek Bridge and through Snow Grass Flats. We will hike through beautiful meadows with views of Mount Adams, pass alpine ponds and keep our eye out for elk herds. We will take a side trail for a short hike on the PCT to the base of Old Snowy Mountain for a rest and picture worthy views of Mt Adams, Mt St Helens and Mt Rainier. We will then make our way towards Goat lake for a refreshing rest, water refill and alpine swim if you desire. Leaving Goat Lake we will increase our elevation and make our way across Goat ridge and through Jordan Basin which will makes for some stunning views of wildflowers and fall colors bursting all around you, the last few miles of the hike will be through the luscious green forest of the Pacific Northwest. The cost of registration will cover our pre and post hike gathering space, transportation to and from the trailhead, goodie bags, and post hike meal and drinks. This is non-refundable unless the event is cancelled due to circumstances outside of our control. All fundraising will be done prior to this event and the hike itself will be a celebration of all the funds raised and awareness that was spread during your training hikes this year. Please read the following physical requirements and expectations before signing up. ● Currently or soon to start working out 3-4 days a week. We recommend you are able to run 3 consistent miles without stopping or make that a goal to achieve in the coming weeks. ● Agree to 10 weeks of training hikes beginning the end of May (as we get closer the weekly hikes will require 4-5hours on your feet) ● Agree to fundraise during your training season ● Agree to 5 accountability video conference calls over a 4 month period. ● Agree to share the campaign page and links to create awareness during your training season. Ask if your friends and family would like to donate to the cause (there is no minimum requirement, but hikers have raised approximately $1500 each.) ● Understand that we are not promised blue skies and sun shine on the day of the hike (we will pray) ● Agree to purchasing the required gear (day pack, hiking shoes, water filter, bear spray, hiking poles) ● Agree to hike at your own risk and sign a liability release before the event ● Understand that this is a difficult 16 mile hike with an elevation gain of 3000 feet. ● Understand that if you do not follow the training requirements and choose not to fundraise we reserve the right to release you from the hike portion of the celebration event for the safety of all participants and to preserve the integrity of why we hike.
