Description

Join pianists Sasha Beresovsky and Elias Dager for an evening of music for piano 4 hands. Sasha Beresovsky is a graduate of Indiana University, studying most recently with the late Edmund Battersby. He regularly appears at The Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria as part of the Summer Chamber Music Series of WMPA, last year performing Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. Sasha was a participant in the 2015 Artur Balsam Ensemble Classes for Piano and Strings and the 2016 Winter Harbor Music Festival. In his quest for the ideal interpretation, Sasha looks to live recordings by artists such as Richter, Schnabel, Sofronitsky, and Cortot. Lebanese-American pianist Elias Dagher values music's power to build community and encourage listening between often disparate people and groups. For the past year and a half, he has been active as a Piano Fellow at Bard College, accompanying lessons, classes, and recitals. Some of his most influential piano teachers have included Eugene Kaminsky, Jeffrey Goldberg, Jerome Lowenthal, Julian Martin, Alexander Korsantia, Vivian Weilerstein, and Cameron Stowe. Elias also plays with and performs alongside a Boston-based group of practitioners of traditional Zimbabwean music. Though the language of this music, played on the mbira, is vastly different from the language of European classical music, the basic tenets of collaboration, listening, and striving for spiritual meaning are shared.
