This is not your ordinary 5k! This is a 5k with a twist! During registration, you will predict your 5k time. The top 10 closest times will receive prizes!Gates open at 9 a.m., Race starts at 9:30 a.m. There will be food and beverage vendors from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. There will also be other local vendors with giveaways, products for purchase, and information!A few things about this race(the rules and stuff!)Race starts at 9:30 a.m.No GPS devices, tracking, or cell phones are allowed during the race.The course will not be revealed until the day of the race (November 5). Predicted times will only be accepted during the registration process and cannot be changed. Strollers are allowedWell-behaved, LEASHED, vaccinated dogs are allowedAll runners must be on the course by 9:45 am.Must be present to win. Winners will be announced at approximately 11:40 am.Prediction Time InformationWhen you fill out the registration page, there will be a question asking your predicted 5k time. You will enter your time in hour: minute: second format. For example. If you predict your time will be one hour even, it will look like this: 01:00:00. If you think your predicted time will be twenty four minutes and ten seconds, it will look like this- 00:24:10 or this- 24:10. Swag Information:The race is free! But if you want the Swag Package, there will be a limited amount (long-sleeved t-shirt, medal, and sticker) available for purchase on Friday, November 4th, 8:00 am -12:00 pm, at the Special Events Center (6550 Specker Ave, Bldg 1829). If there is any swag left, it will be available for purchase at the event. We will email participants and post on social media when/if swag sells out. Swag package is $15. Guests are advised that this may result in the incidental inclusion of guests within any recording or photographs. Guests assume all risks associated with participation in this event including but not limited to traffic and/or weather variations. The sponsors of the DFMWR and associated activities, the Fort Carson Community, its representatives and successors are not liable for claims or liabilities of any kind arising from participation in this event even though liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the guest in attendance. Weather: We run in rain, shine, or snow 99% of the time. However, in the case of severe weather and the course becomes inaccessible and/or pose a major safety danger to participants, the race may be postponed or cancelled. If Fort Carson is closed or delayed due to inclement weather, the race will also be postponed. Please check our Fort Carson MWR Facebook Page for updated information on weather delays. Those attending the event assume the risk of injury as a result of inclement weather Parking: No parking in residential/base housing/neighborhoods on Fort Carson. Parking is free, space is available on a first come, first served basis. All personnel must park in designated parking areas. Parking in prohibited areas will result in a citation and the vehicle being towed. Please follow the signs for designated parking areas. Physical Security/Other: FULL LIST OF PROHIBITED ITEMS AND BAG POLICY APPLIES 100% random personal property inspection in effect. No firearms and/or weapons allowed. Privately owned drones/UAV's are not allowed. No bikes/scooters/hover boards/skateboards/rollerblades allowed Traffic: Please observe posted speed limits. RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT By entering and participating in this Fort Carson DFMWR event/program/activity, you consent to the following: I desire to participate in this Fort Carson DFMWR event/program/activity. This is an event/program/activity hosted by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation. I expressly agree that I, myself, my heirs, personal representatives, and assigns, hereby release and discharge, and agree to hold harmless and indemnify, the United States Government, the United States Army, Fort Carson, Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Sponsors, Donors, and their officers, agents, and employees acting in their official capacities, from liability and from any and all claims for any illnesses, injuries, loss, death, or damage, whether latent or patent, which may occur as a result of my participation in any of the activities that are offered as part of the program/event/activity, or occurrences incident thereto. I agree to comply with all safety instructions and requirements. I expressly assume all inherent, known or foreseeable risks and dangers involved in participating in the described activity. By purchasing, I specifically release and discharge, and agree to hold harmless and indemnify, the agencies, personnel, and sponsors listed above from liability and any and all claims for all illnesses, injuries, death, loss, or damage, whether latent or patent, that result from or are contributed to, by my use of Government property, Fort Carson facilities, and my participation in any activity associated with the event/program/activity. I also grant permission to all the foregoing to use photography, videography, motion pictures, or any recording of this event for any legitimate purpose.
