Description
The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work is a program of The Gottman Institute, designed to educate couples on the research-based discoveries of John Gottman, PhD, on the principles. behind successful marriages. The program imparts in practical ways the findings of Dr. Gottman's four decades of research on the habits and patterns of couples. His scientific, longitudinal studies at the University of Washington are without peer in their study of thousands of couples, measuring everything from verbal exchanges, to vital signs, to stress hormone levels, to conflict-recovery techniques. Dr. Gottman's research has made him the author on marriage most often quoted by other authors on marriage. If you’ve ever wondered why some couples thrive relationally while others dive, this seminar will provide answers. In a few hours, you will learn the six toxic patterns of "disaster couples" whose relationships end, and the seven patterns observed in "master couples" whose relationships last and thrive. As a couple, you will also engage in private couple exercises to help you apply the Principles to your relationship. This is a live presentation (6-9PM Friday, 9AM-4PM Saturday), limited to twelve (12) couples, led by Doug Burford, DMin, LCPC— Level 3 trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and a Gottman 7 Principles Leader. The Couple registration includes a complimentary copy of Dr. Gottman's book: The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. 9 CEUs are available to counselors for $15 by purchasing the ticket add-on. You will be asked to sign-in on Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday afternoon.) What recent attendees have said: "Thanks for the very informative session.
