Blockchain, tokenization and real estate will be the themes of the panel discussion. Our guests represent all aspects of the commercial real estate industry; from property owners, brokerages, developers and venture capital. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN IN-PERSON EVENT. Our panelists and moderator: Samantha Lewis (Panelist) Principal - Mercury Fund Samantha Lewis is a Principal at Mercury, where she focuses on investments across the firm’s themes. Her specific focus is on Mercury’s Power investment theme, where she seeks to fund startups utilizing blockchain and/or fintech innovation to rethink the way we, as individuals, access capital and opportunity, build wealth, spend money and organize as a society. Samantha currently serves on the boards of Mercury portfolio companies Topl, a Web3 stealth infrastructure platform and Cooklist. Prior to joining Mercury, Samantha was the Investment Director at Goose Capital, a Houston-based investment group of serial entrepreneurs and F500 CEOs, where she led deal sourcing, structuring and portfolio management. During her time at Goose, she led investments in Syzygy Plasmonics, Rufus Labs, and Emerge. Samantha is a repeat entrepreneur with a background spanning agribusiness, logistics and supply chain, beauty, and deep tech. Samantha received her MBA from Rice University and a B.A. in Political Science from Texas A&M University. Samantha remains deeply committed and involved in the efforts to build diverse, robust innovation ecosystems across America and specifically in Texas. Outside of Mercury, Samantha actively mentors underrepresented founders and serves on the Advisory Council for Diversity VC Standard and the executive committee for Houston Women in VC. Sandy Aron (Panelist) President of Hunington Properties Sandy P. Aron is one of Houston’s preeminent commercial real estate brokers and developers with more than 35 years of experience in all facets of the real estate industry. Sandy has been involved in a broad spectrum of community affairs. He serves on the board of the St. Francis Episcopal Day School of Houston, Congregation Beth Israel of Houston, and Jones Partnership (Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business). He is a member of the Anti-Defamation League of Houston, Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Houston, Urban Land Institute (ULI), and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Mr. Aron was educated at the University of Texas at Austin and earned a B.A. in Real Estate/Finance. Chris Rector (Panelist) Senior Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Southwest Region , Hines Mr. Rector is a senior managing director and chief operating officer of the Southwest Region. He is responsible for regional operating functions and assists the development teams with strategic, organizational and administrative needs. He oversees the region’s Acquisitions, Property Management, Accounting, Asset Management and Regional Marketing functions. Additionally, Rector independently assesses risk and works directly with the CEO and senior regional leadership to mitigate those risks. Since joining Hines in 2015, he has assisted in the debt and equity financing of nine multifamily assets. He was responsible for underwriting, sourcing and financing in excess of $1 billion total capitalization and more than 3,000 units of multifamily product across five major metropolitan areas. Edward Nwokedi (Panelist) Founder and CEO, RedSwan CRE Marketplace Ed Nwokedi is a visionary leader in commercial real estate. He founded RedSwan CRE a marketplace of tokenized real estate investment opportunities , now with over $4.0b in assets. He recently transitioned from being the Executive Director of Capital Markets for Cushman and Wakefield of Texas, where he lead his team through $3b in transactions and ranking as one of Houston Heavy Hitters for several consecutive years. Zena T.P. Williams (Moderator) JLL - Global Alliances Zena Williams’ role with RedSwan.io has been evangelical. Zena supports and understands the intersection of commercial real estate and technology with a real estate background that began in 2016. Accordingly, her mission is to help others understand this impact on individual experiences, institutions, and the economy at large. In 2020 she joined JLL Technologies (JLLT) and served as JLL Houston’s technology advisor as a critical part of the Sales Enablement team and business development process. Her current role on the JLLT Global Alliances team entails supporting a new group of growth leads to foster the partner economy through the intake of channel, services, and technology partners to support the next generation of work-focused integrated technology solutions and more.
