MILL CITY CONTRA DANCE, Fri. 10/21/2022 ● TIME: Dance 7:45-10:30pm --- [PRE-REGISTRATION is a $1 Discount] ● WHERE: First Parish Church UCC's Meetinghouse Hall (behind the church @ 47 East Derry Rd, East Derry NH 03041. ● We are back dancing with "traditional" contra dancing starting with this October dance! The church hall where we dance has installed a high end air filtration system. > Intro Workshop--7:45pm, Dance-- 8:00-10:30pm, if you $7 Pre-register! ****Come Dance With Us!!**** ● CALLER: Sandy Lafleur. She said “I love contra dancing.” As a caller she has traveled all over New England “b.c.,” before Covid. “It [contra] brings all generations together, breaking down barriers. You don’t need a partner, just come. You’re not with the same person all evening.” She organized the Milford Contra Dances years ago and hopes they will soon return. ● LIVE MUSIC: "Jumpstart" is Gene Albert (bass), Paul Lizotte (fiddle) , Victor Troll (piano). Jumpstart was formed 15 years ago after an M.I.T. contra dance when Gene and Victor decided to continue what had been a chance grouping. Then in January of 2008, Paul took over the Mill City Dance in Manchester, NH, and JumpStart became the house band, joined by Ray Salvo (clarinet),with a different guest musician and caller each month. ● COVID Protacals "For Your Safety": > Vaccinations: we require dancers to show proof of current vaccinations/boosters.
