Join the Digital Health Institute for Transformation on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 5:30pm for a Digital Health Happy Hour event! This month we'll be in Raleigh, NC at Raleigh Founded. This event is a great opportunity to meet folks interested in the future of healthcare and innovation in North Carolina and the world. Our speaker will be Jessie Tenenbaum, PhD, the Chief Data Officer (CDO) for North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services. Jessie will talk with the DHIT CEO, Michael Levy, about how DHHS leveraged data to drive policy and decision making through COVID and in other contexts. She will describe the state of surveillance data exchange at the start of the pandemic and what changes were made to facilitate the automation of data collection to power numerous public-facing daily dashboards. She will also describe the Data Office’s aims for the future and the challenges to be overcome in order to achieve them. In her role at North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Tenenbaum is responsible for the development and oversight of departmental data governance and strategy to enable data-driven policy to improve the health and well-being of North Carolinians. Dr. Tenenbaum is also a faculty member in Duke University's Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics. Dr. Tenenbaum is passionate about data-driven decision making, addressing non-clinical drivers of health, mental health, data sharing, and ethical, legal, and social issues around big data in biomedicine. She is also a supporter and advocate for the next generation of women in STEM.
