Description
Hello, this week my hometown of Arcadia Florida was impacted head on by hurricane Ian. I am in Tampa this week as I primarily work here and when news of Ian came I chose to brace the storm with loved ones in Tampa instead of back in Arcadia thinking the storm would hit here. As we all know the storm curved inward and struck many SW Florida cities including Arcadia. Water levels continued to rise in Arcadia after the storm due to Peace river flooding causing many routes to be blocked. This combined with mass purchasing before the storm has caused a shortage of water, basic home supplies, and gas. Most of the city is still out of power and waiting to be restored. Roads are caved in, lines are down, and many areas are flooded. The national guard has began to aid them but I want to do what I can to help.
I plan on driving back home soon but I do not want to go back without bringing a car full of supplies for my community. I will be delivering supplies directly to those in need so they don’t have to use fuel.
If needed I will verify my address so you know I live there.
Im asking for any type of donation (not cash) that can help my people out. I prefer water or home supplies because I drive a 4 door car but I would love to be able to take a few filled gas cans to those in need as well. I want to fill as much space in my car as possible with supplies. I have been informed on routes that will get me into the city safely and officials will let me in because I’m a resident.
If you don’t trust me but still want to help I can get you in contact with Arcadia pd and they may be willing to be a point of contact for you to help. I am willing to do whatever I can to help my town. I am watching them struggle daily but it is slowly improving. If you made it this far thank you for reading. Please email or text if you want to help in any way!
