There was a time when the Republican party embraced, and defended democracy. Now, except for a few "fringe" Republicans, the GOP is the party of fascism and fascist rule. It doesn't matter if some semi-literate halfwit who posts nonsense multiple times per day claims otherwise, the Democratic party is the only major American party with some semblance of integrity.
