Forming Classic Rock Cover Band

Meets

Littleton CO

Description

I am forming a classic rock cover band in the south Denver area. If you like bands such as Tom Petty, ZZ Top, CCR, Cheap Trick, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hendrix and Cream you will be a great fit. I am targeting classic rock music in the 60’s and 70’s for the most part. I am scouting for a drummer, bass player and singer. I play rhythm and lead guitar. If you are a drummer or bass player who sings that is a plus too. I would prefer to keep the group small to start. I am a male in my mid-fifties and work. I live in Littleton. I’ve been playing music for many years and have been playing in rock band projects for the last couple of years plus playing some live shows. Location and practice space is important. I am looking for people who live in the south Denver area such as Highlands ranch, Littleton, Lakewood, Englewood and Centennial areas. I believe the band has a better chance of success if everyone lives relatively close to each other. I do not have practice space where I live, so we need another member to provide practice space. I do not wish to pay for rehearsal space and have a time limit. I am looking for people who can practice at least once per week. Once we get our songs tight, I wish to play out around town. If we can play out about once or twice per month I think that’s a good goal to shoot for. I don’t wish to play in the basement forever. This will not be a ‘working band’. I wish to play primarily for fun, but I also wish to play out periodically and even receive some compensation for performing. I am aware of places to approach for gigs and have some connections. I am taking this project seriously. For example, here is my mission statement for this band: The goal is to inspire and excite our audience with exceptional music! I do have a vision for this band too. I wish to run it fairly for everyone. All the band members will have a say in what happens with the band such as band direction, song selection, musical arrangements, etc. I will assert myself if I feel the band is getting off-track. I expect everyone to treat each other with respect. We are all doing this primarily for fun and the less drama the better. I don’t intend on playing the songs ‘note-for-note’ necessarily either. I believe the songs should be in the ballpark of the original recordings, but we can also make them our own and add our own creativity where appropriate. I also have a process in place to keep information organized for songs, set-lists and other things that need to be communicated to band members which is set up online. So, you can always reference the songs we will be playing and have easy access to other relevant information you might be looking for. Please reach out if you are interested, looking forward to jamming with you!
