Might you enjoy tutoring former high school dropouts to earn their GED in a program that also prepares them to be skilled in construction? (If not, please share this opportunity with someone who might mentor our youth.) In collaboration with Klamath regional high schools, we have started a new technology education program for students, ages 16 - 20, who have not had success with other available paths to complete their high school education. This small group (+/- 16) of students, guided by the lead teacher, will also need a mentor (you?) who is knowledgeable in academics, skilled in the trades, and most importantly, passionate about becoming the best version of oneself in order to be a gift for their community. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED Ability to clearly communicate in English Able to pass a background check to work with youth Strong character references Desired Qualifications: Demonstrate advanced knowledge in at least one of the following areas: electronics, plumbing, carpentry, metal fabrication, CAD, math, science, data processing, programming, microcontrollers, photovoltaics, videography, HTML, marketing, social-psychology… What can you offer? Willingness to appear in documentary videos (e.g., YouTube). Hours: We are hoping to hire a full-time person whose reputation includes proficiency in multiple areas. However, part time workers having some of our desired qualifications are encouraged to apply for a portion of this 8:30 to 4, Mon-Fri, employment, which runs the ‘22-‘23 school year, October - June. Pay: This grant funded position starts at $12.50 per hour, and increases up to $18 per hour, depending on experience and aptitudes. Benefits: Although there may be health care provided for a full time employee, the main benefit is that the hire will get to learn so many cool things along with the students, doing purposeful work by changing lives to create a better future.
