Following Dory Swimwear's 2nd Annual Pumpkin Drop at Cape Henry Lighthouse! Satursday, October 29th from 12:00PM to 5:00PM STEM Project!!! RULES: Using only household products, youth will prototype a way to protect their pumpkin from breaking when dropped from the top of the 157 foot lighthuse! All participants must provide their own pumpkin, design thier own contraption and be accompanied by a parent when aboard and dropping the contraption from the top of the lighthouse. If you do not wish for you or your child to climb the lighthouse stairs, we will have designated pumpkin droppers available to take their contraption to the top and drop it. We reccomend a 2lb pumpkin or larger. All pumpkin contraptions entering the competition must be nammed ( spooky names encouraged) and registered at the registration table no later than 1:30PM or they will not be eligible to compete for the competition prizes. The competition will be judged on three merits: 1. Creativity of Contraption. 2. How close to the pumpkin lands to the marked target below. 3. Damage severity of pumpkin. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will win prizes! This event is free to attend but tickets are required to enter a contraption into the drop competition. One ticket per contraption entered please. Ticket holder families will also be able to tour the old historic Cape Henry Lighthouse. We will be having a raffle and costume contest as well, so come dressed in your in your Halloween best! All proceeds from this event will be donated to our partnered charities. The Navy SEAL Foundation, SEALKIDS and Preservation Virginia. Any donations are also greatly appreciated. Military ID holders will be able to park at the lighthouse. All civilians must check in with the gate guard, follow thier mandatory parking procedures and ride the free trolly, provided by Preservation Virginia, to the lighthouses. The trolly will run every 5 minutes during the duration of our event. Get ready for great spectating for all ages! Bring a lawn chair or blanket and make yourself comfortable! There will be rock painting and other games and activities to enjoy as well! Free grub and goodie bags provided while supplies last!
