Description

Dr. Caryn Philips is the founder of MomLife Health and Wellness, a physical therapy clinic that provides women's prenatal, postpartum, and pelvic floor care. Too often, women suffer in silence from painful and potentially embarassing conditions. These include pelvic pain, incontinence, lower back pain, painful sex, and other For example: do you "pee just in case" before your workouts? If so, you may believe that that's just the way it goes for moms. Or for women of a certain age. Thankfully, that's not the case. Plus, pelvic floor dysfunction can happen at any age. Many of these conditions are treatable through pelvic floor physical therapy: Diastasis recti (abdominal separation)Back/hip/pelvic painSciaticaPubic bone painPainful sexConstipationIncontinence & overactive bladder& morePlus! Learn the truth about Kegels. "Just do kegels" isn't enough - and it's the type of generalized advice that might make symptoms worse! A personal note from Devin: In my experience as a personal trainer, many of the women I've trained are unaware that treatment for the pelvic floor is available. They often know very little about their own pelvic floor - what it does, what it feels like, and how to effectively control it. The pelvic floor was barely included in my degree in exercise physiology - and that includes the 8 credits of anatomy & physiology that I studied. It wasn't covered at all in any of my personal training or strength coaching certifications. There's a real need for specialized care for women, and for increased education on the pelvic floor in fitness. Several of the women I've coached have worked with Caryn & her team for pelvic floor treatment - with excellent results. Especially in cases of lower back or hip pain that have been seen little improvement from conventional physical therapy. This workshop is a great opportunity to learn about your body and how to take care of it - through pregnancy, aging, and life in general. I've gone as far as to joke that this workshop is mandatory for the women I train, and I'm only slightly kidding. I think it's so important to learn about how your body works, especially as you become stronger and fitter through training.
