There will be a benefit concert for Nicole Deveny Parker-Gaines, who is battling cancer, on Sun. Nov. 20 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Unity Hall in Barneveld. Performing will be Blueprints, Dust Devil Band and Brian Mulkerne Band. There will also be a silent auction and baked goods sale at the concert.
Nicole’s dad, guitarist, George Deveny, performs with all three bands, and has many musical friends, some of CNY’s greatest musicians, who have offered their support. Special guests scheduled to appear include drummers Malcolm Parker-Gaines, Bob Holz and Carl Marucci; harmonica player, Skip Murphy; vocalists, Sydney Pinto, Sharon Allen, John Savage and Rebecca Miner; guitarist Dave “Dinger” Wingfield, bassists John Handzel and Ari Marucci.
“I am blessed to have made many great musical friends over the years, and many of them will be appearing at the show on Nov. 20 at Unity Hall,” Deveny, said. “Most of the performers have known Nicole since she was a little girl. For them to come to play at this event is very special and meaningful to Nicole and Malcolm and to all our family.”
Blueprints consists of vocalist/ guitarist George Deveny and vocalist/pianist Dave Liddy on vocals; drummer Oscar Crandall and bassist Ken McConnell Jr. hold down the rhythm section.
Dust Devil Band plays American roots music and is comprised of Ed Rosenburgh on vocal, guitar and harmonica, George Newton on pedal steel guitar, Darryl Mattison on drums, Dane Porter on bass and vocal, and Deveny on vocal and guitar.
Brian Mulkerne Band plays blues and folk-rock and is made up of Brian Mulkerne on vocal and guitar, Tim Baldwin on vocals, guitar and fiddle, drummer Oscar Crandall and bassist Ken McConnell Jr., and Deveny on slide guitar.
