Small Group Beginner Guitar! Come jam with us as we learn the basics of this classic stringed instrument!
Students will gain knowledge of basic music theory, elementary guitar chords, strumming and picking, and how to use their skills for worship. Utilizing the required text and provided chords sheets, students will learn simple tunes and at least one popular worship song. While the curriculum is not inherently Christian, a Christian viewpoint will be expressed from time to time and music may reflect Christian values.
Students are required to bring an acoustic or electric guitar, guitar pick, a binder/folder, and a pencil to class each week. Additionally, each student should purchase and bring a copy of Alfred's Basic Guitar Method 1. This book can be found on Amazon at the following link:

Instructor: Olivia Longacre (student teacher)
Brief Bio: A dedicated student of music, Olivia is eager to share her love for the art. She has spent 7 years learning the guitar with a study focus on worship, composition, and group development. Her musical endeavors also include piano, voice training, and music theory. Olivia plays and sings regularly with the Spring Hills Baptist Church worship bands and assists in helping teach young singers and musicians in their kid's choir program.
It is a drop-off eligible class * see parent handbook for specific restrictions. Parent/sibling hangout is located in the cafe.
This is a 14 week (1 semester course)
