We've had this sweet pair of guinea pigs for about a year and really love them but my husband's allergies are becoming increasingly problematic. No matter where we move them in the house he seems to be affected. Keeping them outside is not an option since they are sensitive to climates, but keeping them inside doesn't seem to be sustainable for us :( so we are looking to re-home them.
They are adults, one female (the reddish brown one) and one neutered male (the salt and pepper colored one). They're a bonded pair and I need to know that whoever takes them will keep them together. Guinea pigs are extremely social and do not thrive alone.
They're both very sweet and enjoy being held and given back scratches. The brown one is especially friendly and will take treats from your hand. Our kids have really enjoyed them.
If you've never had guinea pigs before, they are adorable creatures with sweet dispositions and like to make squeaking sounds whenever you're around in hopes you'll give them treats. They eat a lot, and love fresh fruits and veggies in addition to their pellets and hay. We also try to put them outside in our yard once a day (when the weather is nice, they are vulnerable to heat) so they can stretch their legs and munch on the grass.
Guinea pigs do not smell so long as you clean their cage regularly, around once a week depending on the cage size. Their cage will definitely start to smell if you neglect them.
You are welcome to their cage, outdoor pen, food and toys etc if you'd like.
Feel free to text me for more pictures, videos, information etc. We are not in a rush and would like to find the right home for them.
