Description
I broke a piece inside my passenger side rear view mirror on my 2017 Sonata which caused the whole thing to come apart. I have fixed the part that broke. It has a very strong spring or tension coil around it which holds it together and makes it so it can hand swivel in/out. It has become a puzzle to me. I know I could buy a new one, but I am not done with the puzzle yet. I have got the plastic piece with the coil around it partially in place. The plastic piece is used to lock the two main parts of the mirror assembly together. Here's the puzzle: the coil is too strong to get it to hand compress anymore to get it back in place. I would like to know if I had the correct tool and know how is it possible to get back together? If so, can anyone provide further details on tools and knowledge needed? Maybe a video? I haven't found anything that has helped online.
Any helpful ideas would be appreciated. All the searching I have done online has not provided the information that could be helpful. For my year, make and model it is just about replacing the whole mirror assembly.
If you have knowledge and are willing to help solve the puzzle, please email.
I hope to post some pictures this weekend or next week of the issue.
