Robert Jones, Sr. is an inspirational storyteller and musician celebrating the history, humor and power of American and African American Roots music through live performances that interweave timeless stories with original and traditional songs. Jones will be joined by his blues brother Matt Watroba, a veteran performer, teacher, radio host, song writer, community singer, song leader and educator. The concert begins at 7 PM with traditional gospel songs offered by the Griffith Chapel Singers. In a free afternoon seminar at 3 PM, sponsored by North Carolina Humanities, Jones and Watroba will present Music that Matters, exploring the influence of African Roots music on American popular music.
