Description
End the Silence, Stop the Violence! “What would I say if I had just one more chance to talk to you? ........... I would tell you you're not alone, I would tell you it's not your fault and I would do anything to remove you from that horrible situation…. Only if” We will strive to remember Terry as she would have wanted, with a big smile on her face, that witty sense of humor, but most accurately running as it was one of her great passions. It is our hope that by raising awareness and focus to this known but not often talked about issue we can avoid any more tragic loss and suffering due to Domestic Violence because Love Shouldn't Hurt! October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month and while we want to remember Terry and honor her memory we need to come together, take action and do more to end the cycle of Domestic Violence. This event will give us a platform to celebrate Terry and her sweet spirit as well as educate all of us on what we can do to help others and raise awareness so that no other innocent person is hurt. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. One in four women and one in nine men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, most occurrences go unreported as victims are often afraid, embarrassed and feel shame. We need to be their voice, their allies and constant support. It is our hope that by raising awareness we can provide information, support, and resources to those in need as many times they do not ask or know how to ask for help, learning how to effectively and lovingly offer support to a victim can save a life. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the National Coalition Against Domestics Violence, to continue with their Mission "The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV)'s mission is to lead, mobilize and raise our voices to support efforts that demand a change of conditions that lead to domestic violence such as patriarchy, privilege, racism, sexism, and classism. We are dedicated to supporting survivors and holding offenders accountable and supporting advocates." The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE) All registered participants will receive a T-shirt , please ensure you select a size before completing your registration. ***Any registered participants who are not able to attend the event or those participating virtually are still eligible to receive an event shirt, please make arrangements for shirt pick up***
