Description

Bay Area Chess is the Nation's Most Prolific Chess Club. In this event, new players can learn USCF-rated tournaments' rules and etiquette in an educational, fun, and non-competitive atmosphere. These events follow the format of our famous scholastic tournaments, except that they are not rated; we will NOT send the results to the United States Chess Federation ("USCF"), and USCF membership is not required). In this event, players will learn to look up pairings (who they play), use chess clocks, play tournament games, and various terms and expectations. Time Control: G/25 d5 (meaning each player has 25 minutes/game, with a 5-second delay before the clock starts moving). Games: 3-4 Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours Awards: The Experience itself is the award! However, we will present every participant with a small Rising-Star trophy, regardless of their performance. (Performance/score determines awards in competitive events). Materials: We will provide all materials; just bring yourself. After this experience, you can attend the half-day RATED signature scholastic events "like a boss". (Get more info).
