Today, in the most technologically advanced country the world has ever known, a majority of 14 year olds are saying not only that they can't afford college, but because of the skyrocketing costs of higher education they have no desire to seek a university degree. That is troubling for America's future. Are we to become a nation that lacks the critical thinking skills learned in a university setting? A nation that can't hold its leaders to account for endemic graft and corruption because we lack the will and intellectual capacity to do so? Would Trump have been elected in a nation where 75 to 80% of her citizenry had the intellectual gifts required to obtain a university diploma? No, I don't think so.
